Dana White says Islam Makhachev's single career defeat prevents a straightforward greatest-of-all-time conversation, even after the lightweight champion broke Anderson Silva's UFC win streak record at UFC 330.

Makhachev extended his promotional winning streak to 17 fights with a decision over Ian Machado Garry in Saturday's main event, surpassing Silva's long-standing mark of 16 consecutive victories. The Dagestani weathered some adversity from the welterweight challenger before securing the win.

White Says Let Makhachev's Career Play Out

The UFC president told reporters after the event that the loss on Makhachev's record changes the calculation. "If he didn't have that one loss on his record, it would almost be a no brainer," White said, per BJPenn.com. "This kid wants to fight all the time, stays active, and after what he did tonight, he talks about 3-4 more fights."

White drew a comparison to his approach evaluating Zuffa Boxing, which he has said should be judged in January 2027. "When Islam's career is winding up, and starting to wrap up, you know, the more fights he keeps winning and the records he keeps breaking, it'll all speak for itself," he said.

Makhachev now holds a 29-1 professional record and has positioned himself in a crowded welterweight division. The champion indicated he plans to stay active with three to four more fights on the horizon.
