WBA Lining Up Schofield Vs. Bahdi For Tank Davis' Old Title

Following the WBA’s decision to turn Gervonta Davis to a "Champion in Recess", the sanctioning body is moving forward with plans to order a vacant lightweight title clash between Floyd Schofield and Lucas Bahdi.

Davis’ last active defense in March 2025 ended in a polarizing draw against Lamont Roach. Public outcry centered on a ninth-round incident where Davis took a voluntary knee to clear his vision; the referee’s refusal to rule it a knockdown effectively saved Davis from a loss on the scorecards.

Any hopes for a late-2025 return vanished when Davis was hit with a warrant involving battery, false imprisonment, and attempted kidnapping. These serious allegations led to the immediate cancellation of his high-profile exhibition against Jake Paul. While Tank later posted bail, he will now have to work his way back to a world title.

"Gervonta Davis is actually a victim here, and I look forward to establishing that shocking narrative in court. What has happened to Gervonta Davis in this case will transcend the initial charges against him and expose a level of criminality which will be talked about long after his charges are resolved," Tanks attorney (Simon Steckel)

Now Schofield and Bahdi look set to get their chance. Schofield needed less than three minutes to stop former world champion Tevin Farmer with a first-round knockout in his last fight. Meanwhile, Bahdi defeated Roger Gutierrez in his last fight in a WBA title eliminator.
