Waldo Cortes-Acosta vs. Curtis Blaydes set for Noche UFC 4

Heavyweight contenders Waldo Cortes-Acosta and Curtis Blaydes are expected to clash at Noche UFC 4 on Sept. 19, according to multiple reports. MMA Junkie first reported the matchup, with MMA Fighting's Mike Heck and Damon Martin confirming the bout is in the works. A venue has not been finalized.

Cortes-Acosta (17-3) sits at No. 7 in the division. The Dominican dropped a decision to Alexander Volkov at UFC 328 in his most recent appearance, snapping a three-fight win streak that included a second-round stoppage of Derrick Lewis. His 2025 campaign saw him go 4-1, with the lone setback a decision loss to Sergei Pavlovich last May.

Blaydes looks to rebound from Hokit decision

Blaydes (19-6, 1 NC), ranked No. 8, has struggled to find consistency lately, dropping three of his past five. His last outing at UFC 327 saw him lose a decision to Josh Hokit in a back-and-forth brawl that earned both fighters Fight of the Night honors and a $100,000 bonus apiece.

The pairing pits two veterans looking to climb back into title contention. Cortes-Acosta will aim to bounce back quickly from the Volkov loss, while Blaydes needs a statement win to halt his recent slide. Both fighters are known for their durability and finishing power, setting up a potential slugfest in September.

Noche UFC 4 marks the promotion's fourth annual Mexican Independence Day celebration card. Further details on the location and full fight card are expected in the coming weeks.
