In the top boxing stories, Oleksandr Usyk’s latest comments suggest that a fight with Tyson Fury will happen next year.

The Ukrainian’s last bout against Daniel Dubois raised a lot of controversy after the latter knocked down Usyk in the fifth round only for the punch to be declared a low blow.

Thereafter, Dubois was stopped in the ninth round as the boxer appealed the result to the WBA. The organization dismissed the appeal, although Frank Warren has indicated the desire to appeal the ruling.

Meanwhile, Fury is currently preparing to take on Francis Ngannou on October 28th, 2023. Provided that Fury overcomes the former UFC heavyweight champion, then a break will be needed before the Usyk camp.

In addition, the Ukrainian’s following comments also indicate that the training preparations are unlikely to be completed this year.

Usyk-Fury

"I can’t say that everything’s OK, but I’m fine. Some wounds, old injuries need to be healed. Everything’s under control. I do my training sessions everyday, but I need 14 weeks for my camp. It would be enough time for me. The first weeks I’m doing my work that helps me to get ready for the training camp. Then I’m working hard for the next 12 weeks," Usyk said

This naturally begs the question: when will the bout take place? Well, Fury did offer a hint during a conversation with  Derek Chisora, indicating that the bout could happen in the first quarter of the year.

"We’re not there yet Derek, but I will be the baddest man on the planet come April," Fury stated

Fury On WWE

Meanwhile, Tyson Fury remains open to the possibility of wrestling once again moving forward. As of now, Fury is line to face Francis Ngannou on October 28th, 2023, after which an undisputed bout with Oleksandr Usyk is being lined up.

And provided that the Gypsy King comes out victorious in both bouts, the heavyweight would become the best of his generation. So moving forward, Fury has naturally been contemplating the next steps.

A career in wrestling has already been mentioned, with Fury having faced off against Braun Strowman in 2019 where the boxer won by a countout.

In the aftermath, Fury was pictured in attendance at a WWE event in 2022 as shown by a clash with Austin Theory as the Gypsy King knocked out the wrestler from ringside. And moving forward, Fury was open to the idea of entering the field of WWE again.

"WWE’s too hard for me. Boxing is much easier than WWE. It’s very physical and taxing on the body. WWE, getting slammed on the floor and all that sort of stuff. I’d rather move around the ring and dodge punches."I’ve been [boxing] for 15 years, which is a long time. I know it won’t last forever.

"And it’s true, I’ve had a few good stints in WWE. There is still a lot of opportunity there. It’s an amazing experience there. At the moment, I’m very busy with boxing. I’m still active and on top of my chosen profession, so this is where my focus will be. After that, we’ll see," Fury stated
