USA Boxing Opens Olympic Door

American professional boxers now have a route to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics through a new qualifying event.

USA Boxing will stage its first Professional Pathway Tournament on 5–12 December at the CAJUNDOME in Lafayette, Louisiana. Each weight-class winner earns a place at the 2027 Elite Team Evaluation and Selection Camp in Colorado Springs, but not an automatic Olympic spot. They must still meet the same performance and eligibility standards as amateurs.

Board chairman Chris Trombetta said the aim is to send “the strongest possible U.S. team”, giving fighters who have already turned pro a second chance at the Olympic dream.
