UFC Sacramento main event set: Hernandez vs. Rodrigues Aug. 22
The UFC heads back to Sacramento on Aug. 22 with a middleweight main event now locked in, as Anthony Hernandez takes on Gregory Rodrigues in a five-round bout at the Golden 1 Center.
MMA Fighting first reported the matchup alongside several other additions to the card, which airs in its entirety on Paramount+. Hernandez, nicknamed "Fluffy," will attempt to rebound from a loss to Sean Strickland, who later captured the 185-pound title. Rodrigues, known as "Robocop," brings a three-fight winning streak into the headliner, most recently stopping Brunno Fereira by knockout.
De Ridder jumps to 205 pounds in co-main event
Reinier de Ridder officially climbs to heavyweight/" class="internal-link text-bone underline decoration-ash/30 hover:decoration-gold underline-offset-2">light heavyweight for the co-main event, where he faces Roman Dolidze. The switch comes on the heels of consecutive defeats to Brendan Allen and Caio Borralho at middleweight. Dolidze, who has alternated between weight classes himself, will look to capitalize on de Ridder's fresh start at 205.
Elsewhere on the card, Serghei Spivac returns to action against veteran power puncher Vitor Petrino in a heavyweight clash. Kennedy Nzechukwu also joins the heavyweight slate, squaring off with Shamil Gaziev.
Two women's strawweight bouts round out the announced matchups: Carli Judice versus Jeisla Chaves and Shanelle Dyer versus Elise Ride. At middleweight, Contender Series alum Wes Schultz meets Jackson McVey. Additional fights are expected in the coming weeks.
