UFC Debutant Calls O'Malley Easy Before First Fight

UFC newcomer Mehemmedali Osmanli has not stepped into the Octagon yet, but he is already targeting a former champion.

The Azerbaijani prospect told reporters at media day this week that he views Sean O'Malley as a winnable fight, according to Sherdog. Osmanli makes his promotional debut Sept. 26 against Ilimbek Akylbek Uulu at UFC Vegas 121, and he is planning two more fights before the year ends.

Osmanli Eyes Quick Rise Through Bantamweight Ranks

Osmanli, who carries an 11-1 record with nine straight wins since 2022, said he expects to finish Uulu and return at UFC 333 in Abu Dhabi on Oct. 24. When asked which Top 15 opponent he would like to face next, he named the former bantamweight titleholder without hesitation. "I can beat easy Sean O'Malley," he said.

The 24-year-old has scored six finishes during his current winning streak. O'Malley last fought in January, when he lost the belt to Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 311.

UFC Vegas 121 takes place Saturday at the Apex in Las Vegas. Osmanli and Uulu are scheduled to compete on the prelims.
