UFC 330 Media Day Set For Islam vs. Garry

UFC 330 media day goes live Thursday morning with welterweight champion Islam Makhachev and top contender Ian Machado Garry leading a stacked lineup of fighters scheduled to speak ahead of Saturday's card in Philadelphia.

The sessions begin at 11 a.m. ET from Xfinity Mobile Arena, where Makhachev defends his 170-pound strap against the unbeaten Irish challenger in the Paramount Plus main event. MMA Mania reports that nine fighters are slated for interview availability, including women's strawweight champion Mackenzie Dern and flyweight contenders Charles Johnson and Jose Ochoa.

Makhachev Promises To Humble Garry At UFC 330

Makhachev said on UFC 330 Embedded that he plans to take Garry down repeatedly and expects Philadelphia fans to back him because of the challenger's brash persona. "He acts like a bad guy, you know, doing too many interviews trying to talk bad, you know, but I know this, he's a humble guy but if not, I will make him humble," Makhachev said. "I respect his skills and his background. I'm gonna try to follow him and catch him and take him down, everyone knows my game plan and it's gonna work again."

Garry recently dismissed the champion's title resume, arguing his own path to a title shot featured tougher opposition than the fighters Makhachev faced at lightweight before moving up a weight class.

Also scheduled to speak Thursday are middleweights Mansur Abdul-Malik and Dustin Stoltzfus, plus lightweights Edson Barboza and Esteban Ribovics. Dern faces Gillian Robertson in the co-main event Saturday night.
