Tyson Fury contract allows venue shift, but Hearn says Zuffa blocked from Joshua fight
Tyson Fury's signed contract for the Anthony Joshua superfight contains no requirement that the bout take place in Britain, BoxingScene has learned, opening the door for potential renegotiation on the venue.
Joshua promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed the discrepancy when reached for comment, saying he was unsure what Fury's agreement specified but that Joshua's deal is explicit. "I just know what ours says: That, exclusively, the fight must take place in the U.K.," Hearn told BoxingScene.
Zuffa Boxing excluded from promotional role despite White's claims
Both fighters have signed contracts naming Hearn and Frank Warren as promoters of record while explicitly barring Dana White's Zuffa Boxing from any involvement, according to Hearn. White told reporters last week he would be promoting the fight and suggested it might leave Britain, speculating on venues including Las Vegas' Allegiant Stadium. Two boxing officials told BoxingScene that Saudi advisor Turki Alalshikh has floated SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles as a potential site.
The contracts exist between Alalshikh, Saudi events planner Sela, and each fighter individually — Fury for two tune-ups and the Joshua bout, Joshua for a July 25 fight against Kristian Prenga and then Fury. Alalshikh owns 60 per cent of Zuffa Boxing, the new promotional venture co-led by White and WWE president Nick Khan.
Fury's next tune-up is scheduled for August 1 in Dublin before the Joshua clash later this year.
