Tyson Fury venue not locked for Joshua fight, Zuffa barred
Tyson Fury's signed agreement to face Anthony Joshua does not lock the heavyweight clash to a United Kingdom venue, BoxingScene has learned. Joshua's contract, however, requires the fight to happen exclusively in the U.K., according to his promoter Eddie Hearn.
Hearn told reporters Friday that while Fury's deal with Saudi Arabia's Turki Alalshikh and events planner Sela leaves room for negotiation, Joshua's side is clear. "I don't know what [Fury's contract] says about the venue. I just know what ours says: That, exclusively, the fight must take place in the U.K.," Hearn said, per BoxingScene.
Dana White and Zuffa Boxing locked out of promotion
Both fighters have signed contracts naming Hearn and Frank Warren as promoters of record, with Dana White's Zuffa Boxing explicitly barred from any involvement. Alalshikh owns 60 per cent of Zuffa, and White told media last week he would promote the bout and hinted at a U.S. location. Hearn dismissed that claim outright.
"Specifically in the contract it says Dana White, Zuffa cannot have any promotional involvement in the show," Hearn said. "Dana doesn't know about the contract for the show that we signed and negotiated." Hearn noted that if Alalshikh wants to move the fight outside the U.K., a new negotiation would be required — but changing promoters is off the table.
Two boxing officials told BoxingScene this week that Alalshikh floated SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles as a possible venue, while Hearn speculated Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas could be a target. Fury is scheduled for a tune-up August 1 in Dublin, with Joshua facing Kristian Prenga on July 25 before the superfight later this year.
