Oshae Jones keeps IBF title after split draw with Carranza

Oshae Jones kept her IBF junior middleweight title Saturday night after judges ruled her bout with Eliza Carranza a split draw, despite the champion appearing to control the action throughout.

Jones connected more frequently and pressed the pace against Carranza, but one judge saw the fight differently enough to deny her the decision win, according to ESPN. The result left Jones frustrated after a performance she believed deserved clearer recognition.

Jones retains crown despite dominant showing

The champion worked behind a steady jab and maintained ring generalship for much of the contest, landing the cleaner punches while Carranza struggled to impose her own offense. Two scorecards favored Jones, but the third judge scored it for the challenger, creating the split decision that became a draw under IBF rules.

Jones now holds onto the 154-pound strap but will face questions about whether she did enough to silence doubters. The IBF has not announced a mandatory defense date, though a rematch with Carranza remains a possibility if the sanctioning body orders it.
