Tyson Calls Trump A "Genuine, Real Person"
Mike Tyson has spoken publicly about his decades-long relationship with Donald Trump.
The 59-year-old was asked to reflect on the President. Tyson did not hesitate. “My whole experience with President Trump is that he’s just a genuine, real person. If he got your back, he’s with you 100%… That’s why I’m for him 100%,” Tyson said.
Their relationship goes back to the 1980s, when Trump hosted several of Tyson’s fights at his Atlantic City casinos — among the most commercially successful boxing events of that era. It was a partnership that put Tyson on a stage befitting his stature and gave Trump’s properties a marquee attraction.

The Relationship
Tyson endorsed Trump in the 2016 presidential election and has remained among his most prominent backers through both terms. During Trump’s second term, that support has taken on a more visible form. Tyson was present at the inauguration and later joined Robert F. Kennedy Jr. — Trump’s Secretary of Health and Human Services — at a press conference centred on tackling obesity in the United States.
The most high-profile recent moment came at the Super Bowl in February, when Tyson appeared in a 30-second advertisement funded by the MAHA Center, the advocacy group aligned with Kennedy Jr.’s Make America Healthy Again movement. The spot drew on Tyson’s personal experience with weight struggles — he has spoken publicly about reaching 345 pounds after his career and losing his sister at 25 to a heart attack linked to obesity — before directing viewers to RealFood.gov, a federal dietary guidelines resource. The loyalty is mutual and it is not performative.
