Tszyu Reportedly Set For Lara Title Shot At Middleweight
Tim Tszyu is reportedly lined up for a world title fight next month, looking to become a two-division champion at 160 pounds.
Tyzu will face WBA champion Erislandy Lara in late November. The 31-year-old is staying at middleweight after beating Errol Spence Jr. by unanimous decision at home in July.
The one-sided win sent Spence into retirement and was Tszyu’s biggest since 2023, when he outpointed Brian Mendoza for the WBO welterweight/" class="internal-link text-bone underline decoration-ash/30 hover:decoration-gold underline-offset-2">super-welterweight title. He later suffered stoppage losses to Bakhram Murtazaliev and Sebastian Fundora. Lara, the oldest champion in boxing, hasn’t fought since scoring two knockdowns in a unanimous decision over Johan Gonzalez last December.
