Trump Confuses Two Dana Whites Over Press Secretary Job
White House insiders say President Donald Trump may have confused two people named Dana White when he floated the UFC CEO for press secretary on social media Saturday.
According to MMA Mania, Trump's post came after former chief of staff Susie Wiles suggested Dana W. White — a former Pentagon spokesperson — for the vacant role. Trump subsequently fired Wiles and replaced her with Stephen Miller, then posted about UFC's Dana White instead of hiring the Pentagon veteran.
White Flying To Washington After Trump Offer
UFC CEO White said he will visit Washington Monday to discuss the offer. The post took off quickly across social media, a distraction from negative press Trump received after his party's midterm losses last week. Trump's message also suggested White bring UFC fighters as assistants to help defend against critics.
Some outlets have compared the incident to the Four Seasons landscaping mix-up from 2020. White has remained loyal to Trump since the former president left office, a relationship that has benefited UFC in recent years as the promotion expands its global footprint.
White is scheduled to meet with Trump Monday at the White House.
