Topuria On TUF Coaching Role Opposite Pimblett
UFC featherweight champion Ilia Topuria has not received any official contact from the promotion about coaching The Ultimate Fighter, despite widespread speculation linking him to the show opposite Paddy Pimblett.
Speaking with ABC.es, Topuria confirmed he is aware of the buzz but stressed that no conversations have taken place with UFC executives, as MMA Fighting reported. The Georgian said future discussions will determine whether his priorities align with what the company has in mind.
Topuria Dismisses Pimblett's Grappling
The champion, who dropped the lightweight belt to Justin Gaethje in June, took aim at Pimblett's ground game in the interview. Topuria insisted the Liverpool fighter would struggle to score against him in grappling exchanges and mocked his physique. He described Pimblett as unable to execute takedowns or advance position.
Pimblett has campaigned for the TUF matchup in recent interviews. The two have feuded publicly for years, and their contrasting styles would fit the show's traditional coaching format if the UFC moves forward with another season.
Topuria said his immediate priority is returning to full health and resuming camp before he entertains any fight-related plans. The UFC has made no announcements regarding coaches for its next TUF cycle.
