Tim Sylvia reveals 125-pound weight loss transformation

Former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia has dropped more than 125 pounds since beginning his weight loss journey, he announced on Instagram this week.

Sylvia, who held the UFC heavyweight title twice between 2002 and 2008, posted a shirtless mirror selfie showing his progress. He told followers he has 20 pounds left to reach his target of 265 pounds — the current non-championship weight limit for UFC heavyweights. "Slowly getting there. 20 lbs to go and I will be 265 lbs. Over 125lbs down," he wrote, per Sherdog.

Sylvia's UFC heavyweight championship reign

Sylvia debuted in the Octagon in 2002 with a stoppage of Wesley Correira, then captured his first UFC title at UFC 41 by beating Ricco Rodriguez. After one successful defense against Gan McGee, he was stripped of the belt following a failed drug test. He regained the championship at UFC 59 in a rematch with Andrei Arlovski, avenging an earlier loss.

The Maine native fought 13 times in the UFC before departing in 2008. He retired in 2013 with a 31-10 (1 NC) record. Now living far from his fighting weight, Sylvia is working his way back down to the heavyweight limit he once competed at.
