Terrance McKinney disputes UFC 329 stoppage: 'Two seconds left'

Terrance McKinney believes referee Kerry Hatley stopped his UFC 329 bout with King Green too soon.

Green caught McKinney with a liver shot in the closing moments of the first round, sending McKinney into a defensive shell against the cage. Hatley waved off the fight with two seconds left on the clock, handing Green a knockout victory in what had been a chaotic opening frame.

McKinney questions stoppage timing on social media

McKinney addressed the finish hours later on social media. "Got me in liver, but the ref should have let it go to next round, only two seconds left," he wrote on X, per MMA Fighting. "I'm proud of the growth I had, wasn't just tweaking, picked my shots. We'll be back, congrats to [Green]."

The lightweight had looked close to a finish himself earlier in the round, walking Green down with forward pressure and nearly locking in a rear-naked choke. When a Twitter user asked why he went for the submission instead of holding top position, McKinney admitted the tactical error. "I would def stayed on top," he replied, according to Sherdog.

McKinney dropped to 8-6 in the UFC with the loss. None of his 27 professional fights have reached the judges, and only four have escaped the first round. Green extended his winning streak to four. Despite pre-fight tensions, the two fighters were seen out together that night, showing no lingering bad blood.
