Terrance McKinney squashes beef with King Green, starts new one with UFC 329 referee
Terrance McKinney has moved on from his beef with King Green and redirected his anger at UFC 329 referee Kerry Hatley.
Green stopped McKinney with a body shot in the first round Saturday night, ending their lightweight clash just two seconds before the horn. The finish came after the two had broken a gentlemen's agreement to never fight each other, according to MMA Mania.
Green explains reconciliation after controversial stoppage
"I'm going to be real: There ain't too many black fighters as it is," Green said after the win. "I'm trying to show him and teach him something like, 'Bro, we're supposed to stick together.' Irish fighters do it. The Mexican fighters do it. But us as black folks, where we come from and what we've been through is just different."
Green claimed McKinney accepted the bout to secure a spot on the card headlined by Conor McGregor. "I want nothing but good things for him," Green added. "I told you don't take the fight, brother."
McKinney took to social media to question the stoppage. "Got me in liver, but the ref should have let it go to next round, only two seconds left," he wrote. "I'm proud of the growth I had, wasn't just tweaking, picked my shots. We'll be back, congrats to Bobby."
Hatley, who has officiated nearly 650 fights, also drew criticism from fans on social media. The defeat dropped McKinney to 18-9, though he has never seen the judges' scorecards in 27 professional outings.
