Caoimhin Agyarko says he was heartbroken when his previous eliminator was cancelled and did not know if he would get another title shot. The Belfast middleweight now faces Josh Kelly for a belt.

“I was heartbroken at the time [when the Adams fight was cancelled] and didn't know what was going to happen after, whether I was going to have to fight in another eliminator or get the title fight, or even be left on the sidelines again”

What Caoimhin Agyarko said

Agyarko had been set for a final eliminator before that bout collapsed. The setback left him uncertain whether he would be ordered into another eliminator, moved straight to a title fight, or sidelined entirely. He has since secured the Kelly assignment.

What it moves

The Kelly fight resolves months of uncertainty for Agyarko. Speaking to BBC Sport, he said he was heartbroken at the time the Adams fight was cancelled and did not know what was going to happen after, whether he was going to have to fight in another eliminator or get the title fight, or even be left on the sidelines again. His path to a belt is now clear.
