Strickland Survives 60mph Rollover Without Helmet

UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland survived a side-by-side rollover accident at 60mph while riding without a helmet, the fighter revealed on Instagram Monday.

Strickland, who captured the belt from Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 328 in May, posted video showing visible injuries to his face after the crash. "I let him drive," he said in the clip, per MMA Mania. "He rolled us going like 60. We rolled like six times. I didn't have a helmet on. I'm an idiot."

Strickland's History Of Non-Fighting Injuries

The Las Vegas fighter wrote that his passenger was taken to the hospital while he planned to sleep off what he suspected was a concussion. Hours later, Strickland posted an update saying he believed he was fine and called the crash "the most fun I've had in a very long time."

Strickland has a documented pattern of injury scares outside the cage. A 2018 motorcycle accident nearly ended his fighting career, and he routinely posts about close calls involving dirt bikes, firearms, and explosives.

The champion had already planned time off to rehabilitate a shoulder injury sustained during the Chimaev fight. UFC was reportedly eyeing a matchup with Nassourdine Imavov for his first title defense, but any legitimate concussion diagnosis could push that booking back several months.
