Strickland Shows Injuries After Motorcycle Crash Without Helmet

Sean Strickland crashed a motorcycle at 60 miles per hour without wearing a helmet and posted video of the aftermath on Instagram Tuesday.

The UFC middleweight champion showed head and shoulder scrapes in the clip, telling followers he was riding passenger when his friend Chris rolled the bike multiple times. "That was from my head smacking the ground, going 60, did not have a helmet on. I'm an idiot," Strickland said, per MMA Fighting.

Passenger Hospitalized After Losing Consciousness

Strickland said in a followup post that Chris lost consciousness and was taken to a hospital. "I think I'm OK. Chris went unconscious for a little bit, so he's in the hospital, but I think he's going to be alright," he said. Strickland called the crash "the most fun I've had in a very, very long time" and thanked sponsor Rainbet for offering to cover damages.

The incident is not Strickland's first serious motorcycle scare. He suffered a crash in December 2018 that sidelined him nearly two years and prompted his move from welterweight to middleweight. He eventually won the 185-pound title and is currently in his second reign.

Strickland's next title defense has been delayed due to shoulder injuries. He recently posted another video of himself falling off a bike, though he wore proper gear in that instance.
