Strickland Says Imavov Rematch Almost Done

Sean Strickland says his rematch with Nassourdine Imavov is close to being finalized for December.

The UFC middleweight champion told fans on social media that pay discussions are the last obstacle before the bout becomes official for UFC 335 in Las Vegas. "We're discussing pay now," Strickland posted on X, per Sherdog. "Once that detail is squared its locked in. The issue is no one cares about the fake Frenchman. We're almost there."

Imavov Earned Title Shot With Five-Fight Streak

Strickland captured the middleweight strap for the second time in June when he upset Khamzat Chimaev. Imavov last fought Strickland in 2023, dropping a decision, but has since reeled off five straight wins over ranked opponents. His recent victories include Israel Adesanya and Caio Borralho in UFC Fight Night main events.

The UFC's annual December numbered card in Las Vegas remains without an announced headliner. A spokesperson for the promotion did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the booking timeline.

Strickland closed his post with a dig at Imavov's drawing power and the hashtag "JesuisCharlie," a reference to the 2015 Paris attack. UFC 335 is expected to take place in mid-December.
