Stephen Fulton misses weight by 6.5 lbs, Spence-Tszyu card loses second bout

Stephen Fulton missed weight by a staggering 6.5 pounds Friday, costing him his spot on tonight's Errol Spence Jr. vs Tim Tszyu pay-per-view and leaving the undercard in shambles.

Fulton stepped on the scale at 139.5 lbs for his planned matchup with Liam Wilson, according to Bad Left Hook, blowing past the agreed 133-lb catchweight. The bout has been scrapped entirely. It marks the second straight fight in which Fulton has failed to make the contracted limit, following a two-pound miss against O'Shaquie Foster last year that forced a last-minute switch to a lightweight interim title fight.

The Fulton-Wilson cancellation follows the earlier withdrawal of Jermall Charlo, who was set to face Koen Mazoudier on the same card. With both featured undercard bouts now off the broadcast, the PPV is down to the welterweight main event and little else. Spence and Tszyu both made weight at 159 lbs under a revised 160-lb limit, up from the original 158-lb contract after Spence requested the change earlier this week.

Wilson loses a high-profile opportunity on short notice through no fault of his own. Fulton, now 23-2 with eight knockouts, was stopped by Foster in their rescheduled lightweight clash and faces serious questions about his ability to deliver on future bookings. Bad Left Hook's Scott Christ wrote that promoters should reconsider scheduling Fulton at this stage, noting that repeat weight failures make every bout a risk to the card.

The Spence-Tszyu main event airs tonight at 9 p.m. ET on pay-per-view.
