Spence Trolls Rolly For Calling Him Out – ‘He's A Nut'

Errol Spence Jr. has mocked WBA junior-welterweight champion Rolando Romero for calling him out.

Spence is currently facing the biggest fight of his career when he takes on Terence Crawford for the undisputed welterweight title on July 29th, 2023.

The bout will arguably define his career since Crawford is the favorite and one of the best pound-for-pound fighters around.

With that being said, Spence dismissed the idea of a fight with Romero. This was on the basis that Romero’s last fight was a poor performance, despite his controversial win over Ismael Barroso.

The referee, Tony Weeks, stopped the fight in the ninth round, as Romero caught Barroso on the ropes.

However, the latter was still firing back as the stoppage came in. The decision outraged the boxing community since Romero was behind on all the scorecards at the time of the stoppage, while Barroso was on course to make history.

That did not leave Spence impressed, as he dismissed Romero’s chances.

"He’s a nut. He almost lost to that old man [Ismael Barroso]; he needs to rematch him. The ref really helped him out. That old man was on his a**. I was like, ‘He’s going to lose to somebody’s grandfather. He’s A Nut, He Almost Lost To That Old Man [Ismael Barroso]," Barroso

It is understandable that Romero would call out Spence since that would be a lucrative fight.

However, the ‘Truth’ has bigger plans on his mind as a win over Crawford would most likely see him move up to super-welterweight.

That would of course be before a rematch with Crawford if he were to come out second best. So for now, the most realistic possibility for Romero would be to face Ryan Garcia at 140 lbs.

Both have expressed interest in taking the bout and given Garcia’s pay-per-view numbers against Gervonta Davis, he has shown that he is capable of generating the views.

After all, the Davis-Garcia fight reportedly did over $1.2 million pay-per-view buys. And that is something that Romero should be aiming for.
