Sean Sharaf will file for bankruptcy despite pocketing $160,000 from his knockout win at UFC 331 on Saturday night.
Sharaf, who stopped Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson with a left hook 12 seconds into their heavyweight bout in Los Angeles, told reporters at the post-fight press conference that his debts have piled too high during his climb to the UFC. "I'm about to file bankruptcy this year," he said, per MMA Mania. "I'm so far in debt, it's not even funny."

How Sharaf Ran Up Half A Million In Debt
A screenshot Sharaf posted before the fight showed over $688,000 in outstanding balances on his Experian dashboard. His disclosed purse for Saturday was $30,000 to show and $30,000 to win. UFC CEO Dana White added $100,000 on top — a $50,000 MobLand sponsorship bonus plus a personal match — after Sharaf missed out on an official performance award. White acknowledged the financial hole at the post-fight presser, saying the payment would knock $100,000 off the reported $600,000 figure.
Sharaf went 1-2 in his first three UFC appearances after signing in October 2024. Regional fighters often scrape by on four-figure purses while working full-time jobs, and even UFC newcomers start on $10,000 or $12,000 base contracts. Sean Strickland posted a photo of Sharaf sleeping on a mat in an empty room after the win and suggested he buy a cheap mattress. Sharaf said he would grab an inflatable air bed instead.

The 12-second finish was Sharaf's first UFC victory and puts him back in the win column heading into 2027. He told reporters his goal is to help his mother retire. No date has been announced for his next fight.
