O'Malley Says He Smoked Heckling Fan With Cap
Sean O'Malley reportedly hit a heckling fan in the face with his cap while cornering teammate Tommy McMillen at Noche UFC 4 last weekend.
The former UFC bantamweight champion told fans on his YouTube channel that a drunk spectator was shouting profanities at McMillen during the walkout for his featherweight bout against Marwan Rahiki, according to Sherdog. O'Malley said he rolled his cap into a ball and threw it at the man as they walked out.
O'Malley's First Time Cornering In Arena
The incident marked O'Malley's first time cornering a fighter in an arena setting. He said on the video that the fan had been cursing at McMillen for roughly two minutes before the walkout, prompting his reaction. O'Malley added that he felt slightly conflicted because the man had told him he was cool moments earlier, but decided to throw the cap anyway.
The event already featured heightened tensions after McMillen threw a Twinkie at Rahiki during the ceremonial weigh-ins. O'Malley said that incident led to extra security checks before both fighters made their walks to the cage.
McMillen won the fight by unanimous decision in a back-and-forth battle that earned Fight of the Night honors.
