Scott Coker Sets September Date For New Promotion Launch
Scott Coker has set a September 14 unveiling for his new MMA promotion, which plans to stage four events in the first quarter of 2027.
The former Strikeforce and Bellator head told MMA Island that the launch event will precede shows in Asia, Europe, San Jose, and one territory still under wraps. "On September 14 we're gonna have a launch event," Coker said. "So keep your ears open and we'll have more information for you."
Coker Building Roster From European Gyms
Coker reportedly spent last week in France scouting talent with matchmaker Rich Chou, visiting gyms that house up to 75 fighters each. "The talent pool is unbelievable," he said, per MMA Mania. The promotion has $60 million in financing and has reunited much of Coker's old Strikeforce staff, the last outfit to challenge UFC as a legitimate number two before getting absorbed in 2011.
The new venture still lacks a broadcast partner and an official name. Coker credited his talent scouts with finding fighters like Daniel Cormier, Ronda Rousey, Gilbert Melendez, and more recent stars A.J. McKee and Usman Nurmagomedov during his Strikeforce and Bellator runs. "When Bob Cook, Javier, or Rich say, 'You gotta sign this kid,' we sign," he said. "I don't even ask. Just give me the pen."
The promotion's first event is scheduled for early 2027, with the September launch event expected to reveal the organization's name and broadcast deal.
