Salkilld On Headlining UFC Vegas 120
Quillan Salkilld enters his first UFC main event believing he is living out a vision he carried from the start of his professional career.
The Australian lightweight will headline UFC Vegas 120 opposite Mateusz Gamrot at Meta Apex in Las Vegas on Aug. 8. Per Sherdog, Salkilld told reporters that the opportunity represents a dream realized. "I just keep thinking if I was to tell the version of me two years ago that I am going to be headlining an event in Vegas on the UFC card, I would be ecstatic," he said.
Salkilld's Path To Five-Fight UFC Win Streak
Since earning his contract on Dana White's Contender Series, Salkilld has rattled off five straight victories inside the Octagon, finishing four opponents in the opening round. A win over Gamrot, who carries a 26-4 record, would vault the 12-1 Australian into title contention at lightweight.
Salkilld added that while his focus remains on the fight itself, he plans to soak in the experience of headlining a UFC card. "I'm good at just enjoying the process," he said. "I'm just a professional showoff."
The bout marks the biggest test yet for Salkilld, who has stopped every UFC opponent except one. Gamrot represents a step up in competition and a chance to break into the top ten. First bell rings Saturday night in Las Vegas.
