Sadykhov Confirms Nascimento Fight At UFC 334
The UFC has its first confirmed bout for the annual Madison Square Garden card in November.
Nazim Sadykhov announced on Instagram that he will meet Jefferson Nascimento in a lightweight matchup at UFC 334 on Nov. 14, Sherdog first reported. The promotion has not officially confirmed the booking.
Nascimento Drops To Lightweight After Controversial Debut
Nascimento enters the bout looking to rebound from a disputed stoppage loss to Tahir Abdullayev at UFC Baku in June. The Brazilian, who carried an unblemished 13-0 record into his promotional debut at welterweight, drew boos from the hostile crowd for what was perceived as a passive first two rounds. Referee Jim Perdios halted the contest late in the third after Abdullayev landed strikes, a decision that raised questions among observers. The former LFA lightweight champion will return to 155 pounds for his second Octagon appearance.
Sadykhov is riding a two-fight skid following a first-round knockout loss to Matheus Camilo at the same Baku event. The stoppage by referee Rich Mitchell sparked debate, with the hometown favourite entering as a heavy favourite. His UFC record stands at 4-2-1 after previously falling to Fares Ziam last December.
UFC 334 marks the promotion's annual return to MSG in New York City.
