Rogan Wishes Coker Well In MMA Return

Joe Rogan has reacted to Scott Coker's return to the MMA promotion business with genuine goodwill and genuine scepticism in equal measure, wishing the former Bellator boss well.

"I like Scott a lot, but good luck. When I saw it was only $60 million I was like, that sounds like a lot of money until you think about putting on an MMA promotion and then getting television production, and then you know paying fighters, and then securing venues, and then having staff full time. Maybe, you know? You got Tony Hawk with you. Maybe,” Rogan said

Rogan's concern about the $60 million figure is not a dismissal — it is a reflection of how expensive running a legitimate MMA promotion actually is when the full cost structure is laid out. Television production, fighter pay, venue costs, and full-time staffing across a schedule Coker has outlined as twelve events in 2027 alone represent a financial commitment that $60 million can cover only so far before additional capital becomes necessary.

The praise for Coker personally was unambiguous. Rogan noted his track record across both Bellator and GLORY kickboxing as evidence of genuine promotional ability, and framed his involvement in any new venture as a credible foundation rather than a vanity project. The scepticism is about the industry, not the individual.

On competition within MMA more broadly, Rogan was clear about where he stands — even as a longtime UFC commentator: "Look, I'm rooting for him. I think it's great for everybody if there's more competition. I think this whole MVP thing and the Netflix thing is great. It stirred a bunch of cash into the organization, a bunch of people got more money than they would ever gotten anywhere else. Awesome. More options the better. I just, you know, I hope he could do it. It's f*cking hard."

Whether Coker's promotion reaches the level required to exert that kind of pressure remains the open question.
