Rogan Says Tsarukyan Deserves Lightweight Title Shot

Joe Rogan believes Arman Tsarukyan earned the next UFC lightweight title shot with his knockout win at UFC 331.

Tsarukyan stopped Mauricio Ruffy with standing elbows in the co-main event, prompting the longtime UFC commentator to declare him the clear number one contender at 155 pounds. "Get that man a title fight," Rogan said on the broadcast, per MMA Junkie. "There's nothing else to say. That is, right there, the No. 1 contender in the world. No ifs, ands or buts about it."

Rogan On Tsarukyan's Finish Of Ruffy

The finish came via two consecutive elbows that dropped Ruffy in devastating fashion. Rogan called the sequence spectacular and noted he could not recall the last time a standing elbow produced a knockout of that caliber. "He knocked Ruffy into the shadow realm with two elbows," the commentator added.

Tsarukyan has waited longer than most top contenders for his championship opportunity despite wins over top-ranked opponents. He previously accused current champion Justin Gaethje of avoiding him, telling reporters Gaethje would try to dodge the matchup.

The UFC has not announced who will face Gaethje next, though former featherweight champion Ilia Topuria has also been mentioned as a possible opponent for the lightweight belt.
