Raven Chapman Suffers Brain Bleed In Sparring

Former lightweight title challenger Raven Chapman underwent emergency surgery after suffering a brain bleed during a July 24 sparring session in Denmark.

Chapman sustained a brain haematoma and cerebral oedema that required an emergency procedure and left her in an induced coma, according to Bad Left Hook. Her management confirmed she has since been taken off sedatives and is being transferred from Denmark to a UK hospital.

Chapman's Recovery Fund Launched

A GoFundMe campaign has been established to cover the costs of Chapman's transfer and ongoing recovery, with Queensberry Promotions contributing £20,000 to the effort. The 32-year-old Chapman, who fights under the nickname "The Omen," has compiled a 10-2 record with three knockouts since turning professional in 2021.

Chapman lost a decision to Skye Nicolson in Riyadh on the December 2024 Artur Beterbiev-Dmitry Bivol undercard, then came up short against Karriss Artingstall in a British title challenge this past March at Royal Albert Hall.

The incident caps a difficult week for British boxing, which has also seen Lee Reeves hospitalized following his knockout loss to Gary Cully.
