Prochazka Claims Costa Has UFC Offer, 'Borrachinha' Denies It
Jiri Prochazka says Paulo Costa has received a UFC contract to fight him later this year, but the Brazilian middleweight denies hearing anything from the promotion.
Prochazka posted a video message on Instagram calling out Costa directly, per BJ Penn. The former heavyweight/" class="internal-link text-bone underline decoration-ash/30 hover:decoration-gold underline-offset-2">light heavyweight champion claimed the UFC is trying to book him against Costa for October or November and warned the Brazilian to stop tagging him on social media if he has no intention of accepting the bout. "Don't tag me, don't mention me in your posts because you have an offer from UFC to fight me," Prochazka said in the clip.
Costa Fires Back On Social Media
Costa responded on X, saying he has heard nothing about a potential matchup with the Czech fighter. "EVERYONE wants to fight me because I'm THE GUY in this boring division," Costa wrote, as reported by BJ Penn. "But the TRUTH is: so far, nobody has mentioned your name to me."
Prochazka is eager to return after his April loss to Carlos Ulberg at UFC 327, where he dropped the vacant 205-pound title. Costa stopped Azamat Murzakanov via head kick on the same card and has since moved up to heavyweight/" class="internal-link text-bone underline decoration-ash/30 hover:decoration-gold underline-offset-2">light heavyweight full-time.
The matchup makes sense on paper, but whether the UFC has formally offered Costa the fight remains unclear. Both fighters are scheduled to train ahead of potential fall bookings.
