Xander Zayas believes Jaron Ennis is there to be hit when they meet. The welterweight/" class="internal-link text-bone underline decoration-ash/30 hover:decoration-gold underline-offset-2">light middleweight prospect says the welterweight champion leaves himself exposed to straight punches and hooks.

“He eats every straight punch. He eats every hook. There are a lot of things I can take advantage of”

What Xander Zayas said

Zayas is pushing for a fight with Ennis, who holds the IBF welterweight belt and has been mentioned as a possible opponent if he moves up in weight. Ennis has been calling for bigger fights after his most recent defence. Zayas competes at light middleweight, one weight class above.

What it moves

Zayas has now made his case for the fight by pointing out defensive flaws. Whether Ennis moves up to meet him depends on what opportunities emerge at welterweight. If the fight happens, it would put Zayas in with a fighter who has cleared out most contenders at the weight below.
