Agyarko feared sidelines after Adams cancellation before Kelly shot
Caoimhin Agyarko has revealed he was uncertain whether he would receive a world title fight after his previous eliminator with Hassan Mahal Adams fell through. The Belfast middleweight now faces Josh Kelly for a vacant belt.
“I was heartbroken at the time [when the Adams fight was cancelled] and didn't know what was going to happen after, whether I was going to have to fight in another eliminator or get the title fight, or even be left on the sidelines again”

What Caoimhin Agyarko said
Agyarko was scheduled to fight Adams in an eliminator before that bout was cancelled. The setback left him wondering if he would need another eliminator, get moved straight into a title fight, or be pushed out of contention entirely. He has since been matched with Kelly for a world title.
What it moves
Speaking to BBC Sport, Agyarko said: "I was heartbroken at the time [when the Adams fight was cancelled] and didn't know what was going to happen after, whether I was going to have to fight in another eliminator or get the title fight, or even be left on the sidelines again." The Kelly fight resolves that uncertainty and puts Agyarko one win from a world championship.
