PFL San Diego Salaries: Headliner Isbulaev Earns Just $10,000
Salamat Isbulaev earned just $10,000 for his PFL San Diego main event loss to A.J. McKee on Saturday, according to salary figures the California State Athletic Commission released to MMA Fighting. McKee collected $100,000 for stopping the previously unbeaten featherweight prospect.
The co-main event saw Liz Carmouche pocket $100,000 — $50,000 show plus a $50,000 win bonus — after submitting Viviane Araujo, who made $20,000. Alexandr Shabliy was the card's third-highest earner at $50,000 total ($25,000 base and $25,000 win bonus) for a decision win over Alfie Davis, who earned $20,000.
Low-End Purses Dominate PFL San Diego Payouts
Several fighters on the card earned $10,000 flat or less. Shannon Clark made $6,000 with her win bonus included, while Daniel Bzdigian took home $5,000 in defeat. Rob Wilkinson banked $40,000 total with his finish of Abraham Bably, who collected $10,000. Khasan Magomedsharipov also earned $40,000 after tapping Joshua Weems, who made $10,000.
The disclosed purses do not reflect any performance bonuses the promotion may have awarded behind the scenes, nor do they account for sponsorship money or commission deductions for taxes and insurance. The 29-year-old Isbulaev dropped to 13-1 with the loss, while McKee improved to 23-1 in his second PFL appearance.
PFL returns to action in July with its next regular-season event.
