Perry Promises Blood Sacrifice At Dual Arena 1
Mike Perry will deliver his promised violence at Dual Arena 1 on Saturday, even with Dillon Danis no longer in the cage.
Perry was set to face Misfits champion Danis in the main event at Orlando's Kia Center until Danis withdrew Thursday, citing injury. Brandon Jenkins stepped in on short notice, and after Friday's ceremonial weigh-ins, Perry made clear his plans had not changed. "The people, they need the blood sacrifice, so we've got to feed them the blood sacrifice," he said, per MMA Fighting.
Jenkins Steps In For Perry Bout After Danis Withdrawal
Jenkins, a UFC and PFL veteran who beat Chris Avila by split decision earlier this summer, stayed relaxed during the intense faceoff. He even faked kissing Perry's fist as the two posed. "Mike gave me a chance to be great, so I'm gonna take it," Jenkins said. "I'm gonna go out there and try to be as violent or more violent than him."
Perry told Jenkins at the weigh-in that he should not have accepted the fight but said the crowd would get what they came for regardless of opponent. The former UFC welterweight has built a reputation for aggressive performances since leaving the promotion, including a BKFC stint and crossover boxing matches.
Dual Arena 1 marks the promotional debut for the new organization, which will air the card Saturday night from Orlando.
