Alex Pereira says the UFC used Daniel Cormier to build public support for the heavyweight title fight between Ciryl Gane and Josh Hokit, rather than giving him an immediate rematch with Gane. Gane stopped Pereira in round two on June 14.

Pereira says the UFC told him a fan poll favored Gane vs. Hokit, though he never saw the results. He also accused Cormier of contradicting himself on the heavyweight title: “It’s all kind of manipulated. I saw before the announcement that Cormier and other guys [were] saying that it will be a good fight. I think they did everything there to make people believe that this should be the fight,” Pereira.
