Patchy Mix Misses Weight By 6.3 Pounds At RIZIN 54
Former Bellator bantamweight champion Patchy Mix came in 6.3 pounds over the limit at the RIZIN 54 weigh-ins in Tokyo, according to MMA Fighting.
Mix stepped on the scale at 63.85kg — well above the 61kg bantamweight limit for his scheduled bout with Shoko Sato. The promotion confirmed he will no longer appear in the co-main event slot after the miss.
RIZIN Rules Mean Mix Cannot Win Tuesday
Under RIZIN regulations, overweight fighters automatically have wins converted to no-contests. Mix is therefore unable to snap his winless streak, which now sits at three straight. That run includes two UFC losses to Mario Bautista and Jakub Wiklacz plus a second-round knockout to Kyoma Akimoto at featherweight in his March RIZIN debut.
Mix had moved back to bantamweight after the Akimoto loss. Another fighter on the card, Alibek Gadzhammatov, also missed weight by 3.85 pounds for his flyweight clash with Yuki Ito. Akimoto and former champion Kleber Koike both made weight for the RIZIN 54 featherweight main event.
