Parker Confirms Return After Cocaine Suspension
Joseph Parker will return to the ring after the British Boxing Board of Control lifted his provisional suspension stemming from a positive cocaine test last October.
The former WBO heavyweight champion confirmed the news Wednesday in a statement that offered few specifics. "I'm pleased to confirm my provisional suspension is lifted and I'll be back in the ring soon," Parker wrote, per Bad Left Hook. "I've been advised to say no more for now while details are finalized."
What Parker's Return Means For Heavyweight Division
Parker, 34, tested positive after his stoppage loss to Fabio Wardley in October 2025. The British Boxing Board of Control confirmed the suspension was lifted but declined further comment on the matter.
The New Zealander had rebuilt his standing in the division before the failed test, scoring wins over Deontay Wilder, Zhilei Zhang, and Martin Bakole in recent campaigns. He also suffered knockout losses to Wardley and Joe Joyce during that stretch.
How Parker positions himself for a title shot remains unclear. No opponent or date has been set for his comeback bout.
