Paddy Pimblett calls jiu-jitsu 'best in the world' after UFC 329

Paddy Pimblett believes his grappling is unmatched in the UFC after submitting Benoit St. Denis in under a minute at UFC 329.

The Liverpool lightweight needed just 52 seconds to finish St. Denis in the co-main event, per Sherdog, locking up a submission the moment his opponent shot for an early takedown. The finish earned Pimblett a $100,000 Performance of the Night bonus and set off a bold proclamation at the post-fight presser.

Pimblett told reporters he had never attempted the specific technique before but pulled it off because of his jiu-jitsu instincts. "I just did that on the fly. That's how good my jiu-jitsu is. My jiu-jitsu is the best in the world," he said, according to Sherdog.

The Brit did not name a specific opponent for his next outing but said he wants whatever fight moves him closer to another title shot. He challenged for the interim lightweight belt earlier this year, losing to Justin Gaethje. Pimblett reportedly listed Gaethje, Arman Tsarukyan, Ilia Topuria, and former champion Charles Oliveira as potential matchups.

Pimblett is now 5-1 since joining the UFC. His next fight has not been scheduled.
