Paddy Pimblett declares himself GOAT of weight cutting
Paddy Pimblett has crowned himself the greatest weight-cutter in mixed martial arts, according to a behind-the-scenes video posted to his YouTube channel.
The Liverpool lightweight, who has never missed the 155-pound mark in his UFC career, said discipline and mental toughness set him apart from fighters who struggle on the scales. Per Sherdog, Pimblett made the claim while documenting his cut ahead of UFC 329, where he submitted Benoit St. Denis in under a minute.
Pimblett's approach to the lightweight limit
"I am the GOAT of weight cutting," Pimblett said in the video. "Discipline and mental strength are what make me so good at weight cutting. You've got to be disciplined all the way through camp. Every single time I step in that cage I make weight."
The former Cage Warriors champion addressed critics who target his weight fluctuations between fights, saying fighters lose the mental battle the moment they start complaining during a cut. He stayed in high spirits throughout his UFC 329 preparation, according to the footage, and had what his team described as a relatively smooth process to the limit.
Pimblett pushed himself back into lightweight title contention with the St. Denis win. No date has been announced for his next appearance.
