Paddy Pimblett earns $100k bonus for first-minute submission at UFC 329
Paddy Pimblett needed less than 60 seconds to secure a Performance of the Night bonus at UFC 329.
The Liverpool lightweight submitted Benoit Saint-Denis in the opening minute of their highly anticipated clash Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, according to MMA Mania. Pimblett pocketed an extra $100,000 for the finish, which came on a card headlined by Conor McGregor's injury-plagued return against Max Holloway.
UFC 329 bonus winners and finishes
King Green joined Pimblett as a Performance of the Night winner after stopping Terrance McKinney late in the first round with a body shot. McKinney reportedly sprinted out of the gate but gassed under pressure. Brandon Royval and Lone'er Kavanagh earned Fight of the Night honors for a bloody back-and-forth war that ended with Royval locking in a third-round strangle.
Seven other fighters on the card collected $25,000 finish bonuses. Robert Whittaker cracked Nikita Krylov's jaw in his heavyweight/" class="internal-link text-bone underline decoration-ash/30 hover:decoration-gold underline-offset-2">light heavyweight debut, while Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson battered Elisha Ellison with front kicks and hooks without recording a single takedown. Adrian Yanez dropped former champion Cody Garbrandt in a wild brawl, and middleweight Damian Pinas flattened kickboxing veteran Cesar Almeida with one punch.
The card also saw Ryan Gandra finish Zachary Reese in 75 seconds with a leaping left hook, Alessandro Costa submit Cody Durden on short notice, and Luke Riley extend his unbeaten run with a questionable stoppage of Kai Kamaka III. McGregor injured himself almost immediately in the main event attempting a flying high kick, resulting in another first-round injury loss.
UFC 330 is scheduled for August 16 at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi.
