Oscar Duarte edged past Kenneth Sims Jr. in their 140-pound bout via a majority decision, 114-114, 116-112 and 115-113, as you can see how the fight played out.
Duarte arrived into the fight in good form. He made a statement by becoming the first fighter to stop former world champion JoJo Diaz. Duarte followed that up with wins over Batyr Akhmedov and Miguel Madueño, earning him the No. 5 ranking in the WBA junior welterweight division. Kenneth Sims Jr., ranked No. 4 by the WBA, was riding a six-fight winning streak, with his most recent victory coming by a decision over Kendo Castaneda.
