Nolan Stops Moicano In Third-Round Upset At UFC Halloween
Tom Nolan knocked out Renato Moicano in the third round at UFC Vegas 123 on Saturday night, securing the biggest win of his career and extending his winning streak to six straight inside the Octagon.
The Australian lightweight starched the No. 8-ranked Moicano with a violent finish that earned him post-fight bonus money, per MMA Mania. Nolan entered the bout ranked No. 11 at 155 pounds and is expected to crack the Top 10 when the UFC updates its rankings this week.
Moicano's Free Agency Talk Backfires
The loss drops Moicano to 1-3 in his last four fights and complicates his plans to test free agency. Before the bout, Moicano said he would consider leaving UFC when his contract expires, though he still has two fights remaining on his deal. The knockout undermines his negotiating position with rival promoters, who typically chase fighters on winning streaks rather than skids.
In the co-main event, Jacobe Smith defeated Randy Brown by unanimous decision. Julian Erosa ended his eight-year UFC run with a first-round knockout of Jeong Yeong Lee, surviving early trouble to land a comeback finish that secured bonus pay in his retirement fight.
Mickey Gall suffered his fifth consecutive loss, outclassed by Zachary Reese across three rounds. The losing streak puts Gall on the roster bubble as UFC looks to trim a bloated fighter pool. Nolan's next booking is expected to come against a Top 10 opponent when the promotion returns to action in early 2027.
