Nate Diaz calls for Mike Perry rematch, fans beg him to stop

Nate Diaz wants another crack at Mike Perry despite getting stopped on cuts two months ago, and fans are begging him to reconsider.

Diaz posted on X Monday alongside an image of him landing a punch on Perry during their May scrap at the inaugural MVP MMA event, which aired on Netflix. "Back in action upward movement," Diaz wrote, per MMA Mania. "Road to whoop this motherf*cker's ass."

Why fans want Diaz to skip the Perry rematch

The original bout at Intuit Dome in Inglewood was lopsided from the second round on. Perry battered Diaz in the clinch with knees, elbows, and heavy punches that opened multiple cuts around the 41-year-old's eyes. The doctor waved off the contest after round two, leaving Diaz with a damage tally of 15 staples and 20 stitches. Diaz asked for the rematch immediately after the loss, and Perry said he was open to it, but fan reaction to Monday's callout was unanimously negative.

Replies to Diaz's post urged him to chase the Conor McGregor trilogy instead or hang up the gloves outright. "You don't need this Nate, save them miles for McGregor 3," one commenter wrote. Another was blunt: "At some point your camp has to be honest with you. Mikes going to murder you, fight lasts as long as he wants it to." A third added, "Love you Nate. Last fight was pretty bad though, gotta be honest with yourself."

Diaz has been fighting professionally since 2004 and took significant damage in the Perry bout, which many fans see as a mismatch given Perry's clinch dominance and Diaz's mileage. No date or venue has been announced for a potential rematch.
