Moicano Blasts Ortega vs. Hooker Matchup

Renato Moicano has torched the UFC's decision to book Brian Ortega against Dan Hooker, calling it the worst matchup the promotion has put together.

The lightweight contender took to social media after the bout was announced, per Sherdog, and questioned how the pairing came together. "Who do you think is gonna win … this is gonna be the worst fight in the UFC," Moicano said. "Brian Ortega vs Dan Hooker that's f****d up, I don't know how the UFC made that fight."

Why Moicano Objects To The Ortega-Hooker Pairing

Moicano's criticism comes after two canceled rematches involving the lightweight division and repeated callouts between fighters that went unaddressed. The Brazilian appears frustrated that other matchups with more natural storylines were passed over in favor of the Ortega-Hooker booking.

Ortega, a former featherweight title challenger, has campaigned sporadically at lightweight while Hooker continues rebuilding after a string of tough losses. Neither fighter is currently ranked in the top ten at 155 pounds.

No date or event has been announced for the bout. Moicano is expected to fight again later this year after his recent win over Benoit Saint-Denis at UFC Paris.
