Johns Survives Knockdown To Score Wild First-Round TKO
Miles Johns earned his first win since 2022 on Saturday night, surviving a knockdown to finish Gianni Vazquez with a first-round TKO at UFC Vegas 120 in Las Vegas.
The 32-year-old bantamweight moved up to featherweight after his original opponent, Jessie Rosas, was pulled from the card due to a forehead wound. Vazquez took the fight on short notice after losing a decision to Javid Basharat in February.
Johns Delivers Stunning Counter After Being Hurt
After several minutes of standup exchanges, Vazquez clipped Johns during a pocket trade and dropped him to the canvas. Johns was visibly hurt as Vazquez pursued the finish around the cage. Johns then landed a step-in left hook that sent Vazquez crashing to the mat, per MMA Mania. Johns finished with heavy ground strikes before the referee stopped the fight.
The wild sequence marked one of the best performances of Johns' UFC career and gave both fighters a memorable outing despite the late opponent change. Johns now looks to build momentum in the featherweight division after struggling at 135 pounds.
