Medic suggested the champion should pursue business or politics instead of continuing to defend his belt. "Go be a businessman, go be a politician; he can do everything," Medic said of Makhachev's potential outside the cage.

Makhachev holds a 29-1 record with 17 consecutive victories dating back to his only professional loss in 2015. He defended the lightweight strap four times before capturing the 170-pound title from Jack Della Maddalena last year. His most recent defense came against Ian Garry in August.

Carlos Prates and Michael Morales will contest the interim welterweight championship at UFC 336 on Jan. 30, with Makhachev expected to unify the belts afterward. Medic faces Kevin Holland on the Nov. 14 card at MSG in New York.
