McGregor Trashes Canelo's Numbers After Mbilli Fight
Conor McGregor has turned his attention to Canelo Alvarez's drawing power after the Mexican star reclaimed the WBC middleweight/" class="internal-link text-bone underline decoration-ash/30 hover:decoration-gold underline-offset-2">super middleweight title with a unanimous decision over Christian Mbilli in Riyadh this past Saturday.
The former UFC champion questioned the commercial success of the Alvarez-Mbilli card and insisted he surpasses every fighter in sales, according to BJPenn.com. "How many views did the Canelo fight get? How many in attendance? Gate? Man I outdo ALL of these people in sales," McGregor wrote on X. "Majorly. EVERY SINGLE ONE. With ease. Maybe even combined."
McGregor Promises Record Numbers For Final Fight
McGregor added that he competed against a World Cup semifinal during his last outing and still delivered strong numbers despite the abbreviated UFC 329 contest with Max Holloway that ended in the first round due to ACL and meniscus injuries. The Irishman said he plans to actively promote his next bout and generate new personal records.
Some social media users pushed back on McGregor's claims, citing Alvarez's consistent activity compared to McGregor's sporadic appearances in recent years. One X user wrote that Alvarez fights regularly while McGregor teases a return every few years, per BJPenn.com.
McGregor has vowed to return to the octagon in 2027 for what he called his final fight. He suffered the knee injuries in July when the Holloway rematch stopped just past the one-minute mark at UFC 329.
